CARNIVAL PHASE 2 DELIVERY AND PROGRAMME

KEY DATES

This table will be updated with key dates to reflect the most up-to-date programme

Please note that the programme for delivery has yet to be confirmed but is expected to happen during 2020-2022. The existing Carnival Leisure Centre will not close until after the new Bulmershe Leisure Centre has been opened. This will ensure people have lots of options for swimming and leisure whilst the new Carnival site is completed.

You can find out more about the proposals for Bulmershe Leisure Centre on the Council's website

MAIN WORKS

In July 2015 the council secured detailed planning consent for Carnival Phase 1 and outline planning consent for Phase 2.

Since then further work has been going on to look in detail at the existing facility and talk more to local service users about the types of leisure and community facilities needed across the borough and where these should be located. This included consultation on a new Leisure Strategy and Library Offer.

Feedback from the public engagement on the Phase 2 proposals was used to help inform the planning application and will help guide further discussions around the detailed designs and layout of the library and public areas.

A detailed planning application was submitted in summer 2017 and Planning Committee resolved to grant consent in November 2017

Closure of the existing Carnival Leisure Centre will be co-ordinated with the opening of the brand new Bulmershe Leisure Centre to ensure alternative facilities remain available to residents during works
