Traffic Restrictions on Denmark Street

Tuesday 22nd May, 2018

The town centre regeneration and Market Place works are massive investments being made to secure a bright future for Wokingham town centre. They are necessary to prevent a slow decline and to make sure the town is an attractive, successful place.

The town centre lacked the range of shops and other attractions to draw in and keep visitors and, thus, it was losing far too much retail spend to its neighbours. The Borough Council became a major landowner in the town centre in order to ensure the necessary regeneration takes place and that the benefits will come to the community as a whole.

It is vital that people understand this context when considering the current, temporary problems relating to the traffic restrictions on Denmark Street. Find out more by reading our commonly asked questions about the traffic restrictions on Denmark Street.
