Date for closure of lower section of Elms Road

Thursday 14th March, 2019

In February we notified people that we would be changing the road network at Elms Field. These changes included the opening of new roads Biscoe Way and Earle Crescent (partial); and the closure of the lower section of Elms Road which will become part of the landscaped park.

Following further conversations with Highways and our contractors, McLaughlin & Harvey, we have agreed a date for these changes to come into force.

Please note that the lower section of Elms Road, from the junction with Wellington Road up to the Plaza area by Nuffield Health, will close permanently on Wednesday 20 March.

After this closure access to all properties on Elms Road, Ellison Way, Waterford Way and the Plaza, along with the Elms Road multi-storey car park and Nuffield Health, will be via new roads Biscoe Way and Earle Crescent as shown on our diversion plan. Diversion signs will be in place from Wellington Road through to Biscoe Way to help people find their way via the new route.

As previously stated, the western section of Earle Crescent will remain closed whilst the new homes are constructed around the park. During this construction period there will be no direct vehicular access from Elms Road to Wellington Road although pedestrian access will be reinstated earlier when the newly landscaped Elms Field park reopens this summer.
